Position Overview
Hospitality NL is seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and digitally skilled Communications Coordinator to support and enhance our communications and advocacy efforts.
This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Projects Officer (CPO) and plays a key role in shaping how Hospitality NL communicates with members, stakeholders, government, and the public.
The Communications Coordinator will support the creation of high-quality digital content, with a strong focus on video production, video editing, graphic design, and visual storytelling. This role will support the organization’s communications, advocacy campaigns, programs, and events by producing engaging and impactful content across multiple platforms.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role ideal for someone who is both creative and strategic, with a strong eye for design and a passion for storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Content & Media
- Create, edit, and produce high-quality video content for social media, awareness campaigns, events, and advocacy initiatives.
- Design visually engaging graphics for digital and print (social media, reports, presentations, marketing materials)
- Develop content for platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, website, and email campaigns
- Capture content at events, industry activities, and across the province as needed
- Ensure all content aligns with Hospitality NL’s brand, voice, and strategic priorities
Communications & Advocacy Support
- Support communications related to advocacy initiatives, industry priorities, and public awareness campaigns
- Assist in drafting and designing newsletters, updates, and communication materials for members and stakeholders
- Support media-related activities including preparing content for press releases and announcements
- Help communicate key industry messages in a clear, engaging, and accessible way
Digital Presence & Engagement
- Manage and maintain Hospitality NL’s social media platforms and digital channels
- Monitor engagement and performance of content and provide insights to improve reach and impact
- Support website updates and content management
Project & Event Support
- Provide communications support for events, programs, and initiatives (including conferences and industry events)
- Work collaboratively with the team to support project communications and deliverables
- Other duties as assigned by the senior leadership team.
Qualifications
Applicants for this position should have:
- A degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, Media, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience in video editing and production
- Experience in graphic design (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or AI Tools)
- A portfolio of work showcasing video, design, and digital content
- Experience managing social media platforms and creating engaging digital content
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Experience or interest in advocacy, public relations, or media is an asset
- Experience in the tourism or hospitality sector is an asset
- Ability to travel within the province and a valid driver’s license
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as required
