A culinary trail is a curated, interactive experience that connects visitors with select culinary businesses committed to participating. Businesses are actively involved, creating an engaging journey for visitors.
Why culinary trails?
A culinary trail turns your business into a destination, rather than somewhere a visitor happens upon. People plan around trails. They drive further, they stay longer, and they arrive already ready to experience some of our province’s greatest culinary assets.
How will they work?
The trails are built to work in the seasons that need it. Shellfish runs spring and summer alongside the fishery, wild game runs fall and winter, and craft beverage runs year-round, with the weight on the quieter months.
Doesn’t our province already have a lot of trails?
Yes, and they are mostly the kind you hike. The word is doing a lot of work in our province already. We are using it anyway (for now), because culinary trail is what this kind of product is called in the wider industry. Whether it ends up as a trail, a route, or something else is a marketing decision, and it has not been made yet.
Who can participate?
You do not need to be near anybody else to take part. Every operator who qualifies can go on the map, whether you sit on a route with neighbours or stand alone as a reason for the trip.
Participation criteria are being built now. If your place belongs on one of these trails, we want to hear from you before the routes are drawn.
