Hospitality NL set the stage on fire as they rolled out the red carpet for the crème de la crème of the tourism industry at the illustrious Annual Tourism Excellence Awards Gala on Thursday, February 22. This glamorous affair served as the pièce de résistance to the spectacular 2024 Annual Conference and Trade Show, which had the vibrant City of St. John’s buzzing from February 20 to 22.
Amidst an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation, the Gala spotlighted the shining stars of the provincial tourism scene, honoring those who consistently raise the bar and leave an indelible mark on Newfoundland and Labrador’s tourism landscape.
From the exquisite Accommodator Award of Excellence claimed by the esteemed Clarenville Inn to the trailblazing CBDC Tourism Business Award of Excellence snagged by Hare Bay Adventures, each award celebrated the relentless dedication and innovation driving the industry forward.
Innovation took center stage with the BDC Tourism Innovator Award, rightfully bestowed upon the visionary minds behind A Little Cup of Sea, while the Target Tourism Champion Award honored the incomparable Randy Murphy of the East Coast Trails Association for his tireless efforts in promoting the region’s natural wonders.
Recognizing the power of collaboration, the Tourism Corporate Partner Award hailed the invaluable contributions of East Coast Glow, while the Cultural Tourism Award shone a spotlight on the captivating Under the Stump experience.
The cozy charm of Newfoundland and Labrador’s hospitality was celebrated with the Bed & Breakfast Award of Excellence presented to The Turnip Bed & Breakfast, and culinary excellence was duly acknowledged with the Food & Beverage Award of Excellence clinched by the culinary maestro Trevor Adams of The Milton Inn.
Sustainability took center stage with the Parks Canada Sustainable Tourism Award, presented to the trailblazing Newfoundland and Labrador Outfitters Association, while the Cruise Vision Award celebrated the visionary leadership of Jackie Chow.
Last but certainly not least, the Celebrate NL Tourism Employee Award paid tribute to the exceptional dedication and passion exemplified by Patrick Ryan, a true ambassador of Newfoundland and Labrador’s tourism.
Also presented by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation at the Provincial Luncheon on Wednesday was the Tourism Achievement Award, presented to Beulah Oake of Seven Oakes Island Inn and Cottages. (Zita Cobb accepted the award on her behalf) Together, these awards underscored the resilience, creativity, and unwavering spirit of Newfoundland and Labrador’s tourism industry, setting the stage for even greater heights of excellence in the years to come.
