Tourism Week 2023: What Value Does Tourism Bring To Newfoundland & Labrador?

Hospitality NL has teamed up with our partners at Tourism Industry Association of Canada, Adventure Central Newfoundland, Destination Labrador, Destination St. John’s, Go Western NL, and Legendary Coasts of Eastern Newfoundland to celebrate Tourism Week 2023!

Today, we asked tourism operators across the province: What value does tourism bring to Newfoundland & Labrador?

With 20,000 people in Newfoundland & Labrador working in tourism-related jobs, the industry accounts for 9.4% of Newfoundland & Labrador’s workforce. There are over 2,400 tourism businesses in the province — 78% of which are small businesses. Together, the tourism industry contributes $1.2 billion annually to the provincial economy.

When we welcome visitors to Newfoundland & Labrador, we’re building meaningful connections between the world and our people, place, and culture. We’re sharing our way of life, our customs and our art, our vast natural wonders, and creating emotional, unforgettable experiences.

But that’s not all. Hear what local tourism operators have to say:

We want YOU to share your tourism story! This Tourism Week, share a picture or video of your tourism business and your story of the value tourism brings to your community, the province, and the world!

Tag @HospitalityNL and be sure to use the hashtag #MyTourismStory to be part of the conversation.
