Project Manager – Culinary Tourism Development Strategy

Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador (Hospitality NL) is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Project Manager to lead the Newfoundland and Labrador Culinary Tourism Development Strategy. This two-year project is focused on positioning Newfoundland and Labrador as a premier culinary destination, driving visitation, and fostering sustainable economic growth. The Project Manager will oversee the development of this strategy, working closely with stakeholders across the province to achieve key goals in marketing, experience development, and capacity building.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management: Manage the development and execution of the NL Culinary Tourism Development Strategy Project, focusing on experience and capacity development.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with industry stakeholders, including tourism operators, government agencies, and culinary leaders, to build a provincial food leadership network and enhance culinary offerings.

Capacity Building: Identify gaps and opportunities within the culinary sector and spearhead initiatives for training, skills development, and policy improvements to ensure high-quality, market-ready culinary experiences.

Experience Development: Increase the number of exceptional culinary offerings across all regions of the province, working to establish and promote quality and market-readiness standards for culinary operators.

Monitoring and Reporting: Regularly track, analyze, and report on project progress, ensuring alignment with key performance indicators.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with partners to ensure that the objectives of the strategy are met, building partnerships that drive tourism growth and regional economic development.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in project management, ideally within the tourism, hospitality, or culinary sectors.
  • Strong understanding of culinary tourism and its role in destination marketing and economic development.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify and execute opportunities for capacity building and industry development.
  • Experience with managing budgets, timelines, and performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of Newfoundland and Labrador’s tourism industry and culinary landscape is an asset.
  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders including other staff, partners, government officials, diverse constituencies, members, etc.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise working in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Prior experience working in a not-for-profit industry association would be asset.
  • Ability to travel in the province and have valid driver’s licence.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
