Position Overview:
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Tourism Workforce Development Coordinator to play a pivotal role in supporting the growth and development of our tourism workforce. As the Tourism Workforce Development Coordinator, you will work closely with tourism businesses, government partners, and educational institutions to implement strategic workforce projects and programs, and enhance the overall capacity and skills of the tourism workforce in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate innovative projects to address workforce gaps and support the development of a skilled and diverse tourism workforce.
- Coordinate and deliver training programs, workshops, and educational resources to enhance the skills and knowledge of tourism professionals.
- Facilitate partnerships and collaborations between industry, education, and government to promote career opportunities and pathways in the tourism sector.
- Provide support and resources to tourism businesses with regards to human resources and workforce development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in tourism management, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience in workforce development, talent management, or human resources, preferably within the tourism or hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of the tourism industry, including an understanding of its challenges and opportunities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver training programs and workshops.
- Strong project coordination skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficient in using MS Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Social media management expertise.
- At least three (3) years of experience in project coordinator with strong understanding of business practices in small to medium size businesses.
- Prior experience working in the tourism/hospitality industry would be an asset.
- The ability to work flexible hours.
- The ability to travel in the province and a valid driver’s license.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience in the range of $35,000 – $45,000 annually.
