Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador is proud to partner with Inclusion NL to present Dolphin Disabilities Mentoring Day, March 21, 2018! This is a great opportunity to establish strategic partnerships, and gain access to a valuable talent pool. Disabilities Mentoring Day (DMD) will facilitate the pairing of an individual within your organization (Mentor) with a job-ready person with a disability (Mentee) for a day of job-shadowing whereby both parties will learn, demonstrate their talent and prepare for potential.
What is Mentoring?
Mentoring is a powerful personal development and empowerment tool. It is an effective way of helping people to progress in their careers and is becoming increasing popular as its potential is realized. It is a partnership between two people (Mentor and Mentee) normally working in a similar field or sharing similar experiences. Mentoring can be an introduction to a potential career path or field of interest, a network, and to knowledge sharing exposed in peer to peer experiences. Disabilities Mentoring Day facilitates that relationship building opportunity.
REGISTER NOW for this opportunity and prepare for potential! The deadline for registration is Friday, March 2, 2018.
Opportunities for you as a Mentor/Employer
- To meet potential candidates and have a trial run at the workplace
- To present the company as an employer of choice to a qualified candidate
- To have an enhanced perspective on accessibility within the organization for staff and clients who may have disabilities, as well as potential employees
- To show that having a person with a disability does not alter the workplace drastically and does not automatically translate into expensive accommodations
“DMD was a very rewarding experience. My mentee and I got along very well and were well suited as a team.”
“This day is essential to the communities to promote hiring persons with disabilities.”
