Career Information

Discover Tourism

The Discover Tourism career awareness program was developed to communicate employment and career opportunities in the tourism industry to a range of target audiences including Youth, New Canadians, Persons with Disabilities, Pre and Post Retirees. The primary message is that the tourism industry is more than you think it is. Tourism is about learning and growing at any age, and as much or as little as an individual may choose. It’s for those who want basic opportunities, but equally inspirational for those who seek work experience and growth potential. Tourism is about building a future. Visitor Experience

Online Visitor Satisfaction Program

The Online Visitor Satisfaction Program provides an online venue for travellers to rate their experience at accommodations and campgrounds throughout the Province and enables operators to learn more about their individual strengths and weaknesses.

Operators pay a modest annual participation fee (usually in the $50.00 to $100.00 range). Unique to this program is the amount of information available to each operator on the reporting site on how you are doing, as well as how you are doing compared to other operators in your region, province and throughout Atlantic Canada.

The program also gathers macro information for each province, which identifies service deficiencies and helps demonstrate how operators can enhance the visitor experience and in turn, improve the overall operation of their business.

There are 100 spots available to operators from Newfoundland and Labrador for the period ending March 31, 2012. Don’t miss your opportunity to benefit from the many new enhancements being offered this season to assist you to gather valuable feedback and valuable information from your guests.

Workforce issues such as skills shortages, low unemployment rates, pending retirement of baby boomers, recruitment, attraction, retention issues and productivity challenges affect all employers. You can’t change economic or labour market trends, but you can change the way you respond to these issues. If you want to attract, recruit and retain skilled workers for peak performance in workplace, becoming an “Employer of Choice” will give you a key competitive advantage. To attract the best, you need to be the best. Through the Discover Tourism “Employer of Choice” program, you will be better able to attract, recruit and retain skilled workers. You will also increase productivity and profitability by improving people management. To find out more go to Employer of Choice.
