CBC’s The Age of Persuasion Host, Terry O’Reilly, announced as keynote for Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador’s 2010 Lookout! Tourism Summit
January 4th, 2010 – Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador (HNL) has confirmed CBC’s Terry O’Reilly as the 2010 Lookout! Tourism Summit keynote speaker. As the familiar voice, co-writer and co-producer of the CBC radio show, The Age of Persuasion, a show about the business, the craft, and the promise of advertising, draws over 600,000 listeners every week.
O’Reilly has won hundreds of national and international awards for his work, was named to Marketing Magazine's Power 100 List, and in 2009, was inducted into the Marketing Hall of Legends. Away from the mic, O'Reilly is the co-founder of Pirate Radio & Television in New York and Toronto, which specializes in the audio production for radio and television commercials. He also hosts sold-out radio seminars, is a recipient of the Les Usherwood Lifetime Achievement Award, given by the advertising industry, and was named as Radio Chair of the Clio Awards in Miami. His book, The Age of Persuasion: How Marketing Ate Our Culture, co-authored with Mike Tennant, was released by Random House in October 2009.

Witty and erudite, O'Reilly shows delegates how advertising works, and why it matters. Drawing on examples, both classic and new, he examines what makes the great campaigns tick and where big ideas come from. He provides the inspiration and the tools to produce great ads that get noticed, and resonate completely, but also provides a realistic point of view, acknowledging the shortcomings of advertising. With something for everyone, O’Reilly delights both general audiences and advertising veterans by pointing to trends and dispatching timeless lessons.
