The Bonavista Institute for Cultural Tourism is a leading edge centre for professional development in the cultural tourism sector in Atlantic Canada. Spearheaded by the Bonavista Campus of the College of the North Atlantic and supported by ACOA and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, it will assist tourism operators and cultural providers in delivering world-class visitor experiences.
Building Place: Planning and Developing a Creative Cultural Destination

Instructors: Dr. Laurel Reid (Bouctouche, Lessons Learned) and Dr. Brian White (Royal Roads University)
• The goal of the workshop is to provide a broad perspective on cultural tourism and an understanding of cultural tourism planning and development processes -- within a destination context. Your “living lab” experience will include visits to Bonavista, Elliston, Port Union and Upper Amherst Cove.
Profitable Partnerships: Maximizing Cultural Tourism Opportunities
Where: Trinity
When: June 1-3

• The goal of this workshop is to provide a broad perspective on profitable partnerships in cultural tourism through a “business” lens, and an understanding of how this can be applied in the Trinity community as well as back in your own communities.

The Bonavista Institute is offering subsidies covering 50% of eligible expenses (tuition, accommodation, transportation and meals) up to a maximum of $1500 are available to qualified participants of BICT programs. (*Some provincial departments may be offering additional support. Please contact your department for details).
Please note participants are expected to pay registration costs up front and be reimbursed following completion of courses.
In order to qualify for the assistance offered by BICT, participants just need to meet the following basic criteria:
• companies and participants must be operational in Atlantic Canada
• companies/organizations must be in operation for at least 2 years
• participants must be at management level of operation (frontline staff are not generally eligible)
• Provincial and federal employees DO NOT qualify for the assistance program
