Welcome to the Discovery Zone! Named after John Cabot’s discovery of Newfoundland in 1497, the Discovery Zone is home to one of the most diverse economies in the province. With a strong fishing heritage that days back 500 years, to the recent emergence of the oil and gas industry, the Discovery Regional Economic Development Board (DRDB) has a wealth of natural and cultural resources to work with in building a stronger economy. As the Regional Economic Development Board (REDB) for this region, the Discovery Board is always excited to work with individuals, organizations, and communities in planning and developing strategic initiatives for our area.
