Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act Webinar
The Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act is new federal legislation which recognizes the historic value of lighthouses and facilitates their protection through their designation as Heritage Lighthouses. In a continuing process spearheaded by the federal government, a number of surplus lighthouses in Newfoundland and Labrador were nominated by way of a petition process under the Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act. The Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, along with other interest groups is working with federal officials to ensure that these historical lighthouses in Newfoundland and Labrador have every opportunity to remain intact.
The next step in the process to protect and preserve these recently nominated historically significant surplus lighthouses is to engage municipalities, business owners, interest groups. As such, HNL is working with TCR and members of the Lighthouse Working Group to provide information on what is required to take on the responsibility of a nominated surplus lighthouse.
If you are interested in learning more about ideas for adaptive reuse of surplus historic lighthouses and for developing business cases for their re-use, we invite you to participate in our Lighthouse Webinar.
Participation in the Lighthouse Webinar is free of charge but registration is required to ensure you receive the Webinar login information.
